Answer phone. o Front desk assistance - Technical ................................... All of the non-technical work plus. Assist customers in selecting their equipment. Set up computer systems. Do first check of computers brought in for repairs. COMPUTER RELATED SKILLS o Refurbishing computers.................................................. Phoenix Computers is always seeking individuals who have an interest in becoming proficient working with computers. Refurbishing entails diagnosing hardware and software problems and installing the Windows operating system. We have an excellent group of volunteers who are very good and are willing to share that knowledge. Ideally we are looking for long term volunteers. o Hard drive wiping / monitor testing......................................................... All of the hard drives that we receive must be wiped clean of any personal data before it can be used in a refurbished computer. Specialized software is used to wipe hard drive and remove data. As you can imagine, the task is large given the number of computers that we process. NON COMPUTER SKILLS o Outreach ........................................................... Develop and maintain contact with our referring partners. Explore their needs and keep them updated on news from our organization. o Public relations....................................................... Develop media contacts who might use print or broadcast to inform the public of the benefits of our program.
